Which skin type are you?

Did you know that most people don't actually know their skin type? Understanding your skin is the first and most important step in any skincare or aesthetic journey. Knowing your skin type can help you select the right products, treatments, and routines - and avoid irritation or ineffective results.

The five main skin types:

🌵 Dry

Skin that produces too little natural oil. It often feels tight, rough, or flakey a few hours after washing. Dry skin may need extra hydration and gentle, nourishing products.

šŸ˜… Oily

Skin that produces excess oil. It can appear shiny or greasy, particularly in the forehead, nose, and chin (the T-zone). Oily skin may benefit from lightweight, non-comedogenic products that help balance sebum.

šŸ¤ Combination

Skin that is oily in some areas (usually the T-zone) and dry or normal in others. Combination skin may require a mix of targeted treatments to address different needs across the face.

🄹 Sensitive

Skin that is easily irritated or inflamed. It may react to certain ingredients, fragrances, or environmental factors, often feeling tight, dry, or red. Sensitive skin benefits from calming, hypoallergenic products and gentle treatments.

šŸ¦„ Normal

Skin that is well-balanced, rarely feeling dry or oily. Normal skin typically looks healthy, with minimal blemishes, and responds well to most treatments and products.

How to figure out your skin type

Not sure which category fits you? Try the "wash and wait" method:

1. Wash your face gently with a mild cleanser.

2. Pat your skin dry.

3. Wait 30 minutes without applying any products.

4. Observe how your skin feels and looks in the mirror.

This simple method helps you see how your skin behaves naturally, without interference from products or makeup.

Why knowing your skin type matters

Once you've identified your skin type, you'll be able to choose the right products, treatments, and routines for your specific needs. Certain aesthetic treatments - like chemical peels, microneedling, or hydrating facials - may be better suited to one skin type over another.

A qualified practitioner can help you assess your skin, identify your concerns, and recommend the treatments that are ideal for your type and your personal goals. By combining knowledge of your skin with professional guidance, you can achieve safer, more effective results.
